Bristol Samaritans announced as Fiesta charity partners

The Bristol Samaritans will be the official charity partner of the 2012 Jones Lang
LaSalle Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

The charity provides completely confidential emotional support 24 hours a day to
allow people to talk openly about their worries and concerns without fear of being
judged.

Bristol Samaritans receive approximately 57,000 phone calls a year, as well as emails,
text messages and visitors to their branch in St Nicholas Street.

Martyn Baxter, director of Bristol Samaritans says:“We are delighted to be the official charity partner of this year’s Fiesta. We rely entirely on donations, so being a part of the Fiesta is an excellent way for us to raise awareness and money to support our essential work.

“People contact us for many reasons, often when they are in distress or despair, but
whatever the problem our lines are open 24/7.”

At the Fiesta the Bristol Samaritans will host a stress down area, where you can talk
to members of the organisation and learn more about their work. Chris Hathaway, chair of the Jones Lang LaSalle Bristol International Balloon Fiesta Organising Committee says:
“‘It is fantastic for us to be working with such a worthwhile charity. They are entirely
reliant on public donations, so the generosity of the half a million people that visit
the Fiesta could make a huge difference. “The support that the Bristol Samaritans offer is invaluable for tens of thousands of people per year and we are very proud to be able to support them at this year’s event.”
