Learn to eat healthily – Vegucated comes to Bristol

Students returning to their courses this autumn will not only be learning about their chosen studies – they will also get a chance to get ‘Vegucated’ on their eating habits with two free screenings planned in November for this life-altering documentary.

Vegucated follows several New Yorkers as they attempt to go vegan for 6 weeks and in doing so they learn about where meat and dairy comes from, and some of the benefits of adopting a plant-based lifestyle.

‘Too many students know absolutely nothing about their food,’ says Alan Lee, organiser of the event and currently a 3rd year PhD student at Bristol University. ‘Vegucated gives a light-hearted look at the positive aspects of going vegan, and will help students gain a fresh awareness of the food they put into their bodies. It seems a paradox that we have some of the most intelligent people on the planet at university, and yet hardly any of them get any education about the food they eat. I aim to change this.’

Vegucated is set to be screened at the Polish Club on November. Entry is free to the public, and the evenings include free pizza and snacks, a stand-up comedian as well as the film screening and a discussion afterwards. People wishing to attend (both students and the public are welcome) should reserve their places in advance on the event booking page http://vegucatebristol.eventbrite.co.uk/ (for 1 November) or http://vegucatebristol2.eventbrite.co.uk/ (for 6 November).
